Dutch designer Piet Boon continues to collaborate with COCOON to produce award-winning styles of shower sets, faucets, bathtubs and basins that embrace his signature aesthetic of beauty meets function. The craftmanship of his products embody a refined look, with a commitment to using the finest and eco-friendly materials.
For a closer look into his background, the Amsterdam-based designer began his career as a “frustrated” contractor. With his experience in the field of construction, Piet Boon took a new approach to architectural design with concepts that were livable, durable, “timeless” and beautiful.
In 1982, he established his design firm, Studio Piet Boon and took on a variety of clients from corporations, restaurants, private companies, hotels and individual homeowners. Some of his most famous projects include: The Jane Antwerp Restaurant; Rosewood hotels in Half Moon Bay Antigua and Amsterdam; luxury apartments in New York City, Miami, Spain, and Paris.
What is Piet Boon’s Design Philosophy?
The word ‘timeless’ is key term when describing Piet Boon’s work, especially with his bath ware collection by COCOON.
According to Piet Boon, in an interview with Interior Design magazine, he believes that there is great beauty in simplistic design.
“Bearing use, context, and function, our unique designs are built to stand the test of time. When designing, we look at location, how spaces are used, by whom these are used, and what materials are the most suitable to fit a certain purpose. Our roots in carpentry and construction have given us the advantage of having extensive knowledge in materials and building techniques. We know what works. We also embrace the imperfections and transience of natural materials. The passing of time leaves beautiful traces and these are anticipated in our designs. Last but not least, when it comes to designing for longevity, it is important to create a quiet basis. We keep our color palettes neutral. By doing so, we create a timeless backdrop, accommodating changing colors from personal belongings, furniture items, and works of art.”

The Piet Boon Collection by COCOON:
COCOON expands their offerings of the Piet Boon Collection with taps, basins, cabinets, bathtubs and shower sets. According to Studio Piet Boon, from their design point of view, the bathroom must be in perfect balance of function and beauty. With that in mind, the PB Bath – the newest Piet Boon free-standing bathtub from the COCOON collection was developed. The choice of material was a focal point in this design, from a comfort-level to durability of the natural stone.
“The various Piet Boon COCOON bathroom products are designed to enhance each other and any environment, and together form a harmonious whole; a place to unwind”. – Studio Piet Boon
PB Bath
Introduced in late 2020, the PB Bath has already become a signature piece for COCOON. It has a rounded rectangle shape, which reinforces the ergonomics for comfortable support while taking a bath. The double edge was created to hold a solid wood bridge that easily rests from both rims.
Available in natural stone and solid surface – see “Best Tubs by COCOON” for more details.
Winner of the Red Dot Design Award, these COCOON faucets are considered timeless pieces of art with their distinctive Piet Boon “KEKKE” shape.
