John Pawson’s work brings attention to the details that shape a room: proportion, light, material and the objects we use every day. His collection for COCOON carries that approach into the kitchen and bathroom, and remains one of the most popular in the COCOON series.
The latest additions give homeowners and design professionals more ways to bring Pawson’s designs into a project. His signature JP Bath is now available in solid surface, while the new JP 09.2 and JP 09.3 kitchen mixers extend the collection’s distinctive simplicity to the kitchen sink.

At Specialty Hardware + Plumbing and COCOON Beverly Hills, we help you explore those choices, compare finishes and develop a specification around your home, using the John Pawson collection by COCOON.

The JP Bath in a new material

Originally offered in natural stone, the JP Bath is an established John Pawson design. The new solid surface version preserves its sculptural shape while offering a lighter, more accessible alternative at a lower price point than the stone bath.

That opens up a useful conversation for anyone who has admired the original. You can now consider Pawson’s bath in relation to a different budget, material palette and installation plan.

COCOON lists the solid surface bath at approximately 190 kg, or 419 lb, compared with 850 kg, or 1,874 lb, for the natural stone version. Both are listed at 1825 × 761 × 600 mm—approximately 71.9 × 30 × 23.6 inches. The reduction in empty weight can make a meaningful difference to handling and project planning; the filled bath and installation still need to be assessed by your project team.

What is Cristalplant solid surface

Cristalplant® is an engineered solid surface made primarily from mineral fillers bound with resin. Its manufacturer describes a formulation using high-purity aluminum trihydrate and plant-derived resins, with a soft-touch feel reminiscent of stone.

For a freestanding bathtub, solid surface allows a smooth, continuous form that emphasizes the designer’s proportions. COCOON describes the JP Bath material as nonporous, with consistent color throughout its thickness and a surface that allows minor marks to be restored.

Those qualities make it worth considering for a bathroom that will be used every day. Follow the care instructions for the selected finish, and ask our team about the appropriate cleaning and repair methods. Cristalplant’s general care guidance recommends avoiding harsh solvents and aggressive chemicals.

Eight finishes for the JP Bath Solid Surface

The bath is offered in Chalk, Coal, Anthracite, Pebble, Dust, Earth, North and Shell, with a matching drain in the same material and finish.

That range gives you more flexibility when developing the bathroom’s palette. Consider whether you want the bath to sit quietly alongside the surrounding surfaces or provide a stronger visual anchor. Review a physical sample beside your floor, wall and vanity materials to see how the combination responds to the room’s light.

Our team can help you compare the options and request pricing for your preferred selection.

Introducing the JP 09.2 and JP 09.3 kitchen mixers

The new John Pawson kitchen faucets bring the same attention to form into a hardworking part of the home. Their curved spouts create a clear, restrained silhouette above the sink, particularly appealing when the faucet is visible from an adjoining living or dining space.

COCOON’s JP09 range is crafted from AISI 316L marine-grade stainless steel and offers 213 mm and 280 mm spout projections. Choosing the appropriate reach is an important part of matching the faucet to your sink and countertop layout.

The range comes in three finishes:

  • Brushed Inox for the appearance of brushed stainless steel.
  • Dark Grey for a deeper tone within the material palette.
  • JP Brushed Gold for a warmer metallic accent.

Bring your sink specifications and counter plan to your consultation. We can help you review the appropriate model and dimensions before you finalize the selection.

Pair the kitchen mixer with the JP16 cold water tap

The JP16 deck-mounted cold water tap is a natural companion to the new kitchen mixers. Its coordinating form and finish choices help you plan a separate cold-water outlet without introducing a competing design at the sink.

Like the mixers, the JP16 is made from AISI 316L stainless steel and is available in Brushed Inox, Dark Grey and Brushed Gold. COCOON has also shown the JP 09.2 and JP16 together in its own kitchen imagery.

If your project calls for filtered drinking water, discuss the proposed filtration equipment and connection requirements with our team before specifying the tap. The JP16 is a cold water tap; any water treatment depends on a separately selected, compatible system.

When choosing a tub for your home, there are bathtub materials you should consider as part of your pros, cons, durability and maintenance list.

Bathtub Materials: UHS, Cristalplant & Concrete

These bathtub materials are highlighted, as they are the top performers from the product lines we sell from Inbani and COCOON.

Inbani tubs are manufacturered in solid surface material (white) or you can choose from more than 60 UHS Colors.

View all of Inbani’s UHS colors here >> materials

UHS Color (Ultra-High-Strength Color) refers to a specialized surface treatment or material blend used in manufacturing high-end bathroom fixtures like bathtubs and basins. It is designed to offer superior durability, color retention, and resistance to wear over time.

Why UHS Color Matters for Bathtub Materials:

  1. Enhanced Durability – UHS Color coatings are highly resistant to scratches, stains, and fading, ensuring a long-lasting pristine look. This is especially important for frequently used fixtures like bathtubs and basins.

  2. Deep & Uniform Color – Unlike standard surface coatings, UHS Color provides a richer, more consistent hue that does not fade or discolor over time, even with prolonged exposure to water, heat, and cleaning agents.

  3. Resistant to Chemicals & UV Exposure – This material prevents yellowing or discoloration caused by harsh cleaning products or natural light exposure, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor bathroom installations.

  4. Smooth, Non-Porous Surface – UHS Color coatings create a sleek, easy-to-clean surface that resists mold, mildew, and soap buildup, contributing to better hygiene and easier maintenance.

  5. Luxurious Matte or Glossy Finish – UHS Color technology allows for premium aesthetic choices, including velvety matte finishes or high-gloss options, giving designers and homeowners more flexibility in creating a refined bathroom look.

UHS  – Why It’s a Game Changer for Bathtubs

Using UHS Color ensures that a bathtub or basin remains visually stunning and structurally intact for years, even in high-humidity environments. It’s a perfect blend of form and function, making it a top choice for luxury and performance-driven bathroom designs.

The solid surface material that COCOON bathtubs uses is called Cristalplant.

Cristalplant is a high-end solid surface material commonly used in luxury bathroom fixtures, particularly bathtubs and basins. It is a composite material made from natural minerals (primarily aluminum trihydrate) and a small percentage of high-performance polyester and acrylic resins. This blend gives it a smooth, stone-like appearance while maintaining exceptional durability.

Durability & Benefits of Cristalplant for Bathtubs:

  1. Extremely Durable & Repairable – Cristalplant is highly resistant to scratches, stains, and impact. Unlike ceramic or enameled materials, minor damage (such as small scratches or scuffs) can be repaired with sanding, restoring the original finish.

  2. Soft, Velvety Touch – It has a smooth, matte surface with a natural, stone-like texture that is warm to the touch, enhancing the overall bathing experience.

  3. Non-Porous & Hygienic – The material is non-porous, making it highly resistant to mold, mildew, and bacteria. This ensures easy cleaning and long-term hygiene.

  4. UV & Chemical Resistant – Unlike some other solid surfaces, Cristalplant is resistant to UV exposure and harsh cleaning agents, preventing discoloration and yellowing over time.

  5. Seamless & Sculptural Design – Its moldable nature allows for seamless, modern designs with clean lines and organic shapes, making it a preferred choice for contemporary and minimalist bathrooms.

Is Cristalplant a Good Choice for Bathtub Materials?

Absolutely! Cristalplant bathtubs are highly durable, maintain their beauty for years, and provide a luxurious, spa-like feel. With its repairable surface, long-lasting color, and resistance to everyday wear, it’s an excellent investment for high-end bathroom designs.  See Care & Maintenance

COCOON’s concrete bathtubs are different from other brands.

Read: Handcrafted Concrete Bathtubs by COCOON

1. Proprietary Lightweight Concrete Blend

Unlike traditional concrete tubs, which are extremely heavy and can require reinforced flooring, COCOON uses a specially formulated concrete that is significantly lighter while maintaining durability. This makes installation easier and allows for more design flexibility in various bathroom layouts.

2. Strength & Durability

COCOON’s concrete is reinforced with advanced composites, making it stronger and less prone to cracking compared to standard concrete. Many traditional concrete tubs, if not properly treated, can develop small cracks over time due to natural expansion and contraction. COCOON’s proprietary mix reduces this risk, ensuring long-term durability.

3. Smooth, Natural Finish

One of COCOON’s signature features is the ultra-smooth, handcrafted finish of their concrete. While standard concrete tubs can feel rough or porous, COCOON’s material is treated to be soft to the touch and non-porous, enhancing the bathing experience and preventing issues like staining or water absorption.

4. Minimal Maintenance & Water Resistance

COCOON applies a high-performance sealant to their concrete tubs, making them more resistant to moisture, stains, and discoloration. Traditional concrete tubs often require regular sealing to prevent water absorption, but COCOON’s finish ensures long-lasting protection with minimal upkeep.

5. Eco-Friendly & Sustainable

Their lightweight concrete uses less raw material than traditional concrete, reducing environmental impact. Additionally, COCOON focuses on sustainability by creating long-lasting products that do not require frequent replacement or heavy maintenance.

Why Choose COCOON’s Concrete Tub?

COCOON’s lightweight concrete tubs offer the best of both worlds—the raw, organic beauty of concrete without the excessive weight and maintenance challenges of traditional concrete. Their handcrafted, highly durable finish makes them a luxurious yet practical choice for modern bathrooms.
